Cravings or Habit?

I've been thinking this week about cravings. Right now I'm days away from TOM visiting and I've been wanting junk to eat. Chocolate, peanut butter, ice cream, chips, candy, soda....you name it. I haven't eaten all of those things, but I certainly want to! What I'm reflecting on, though, is are these foods actual cravings that I'm having, or is it out of habit that I want to eat them this week?

Before I started trying to lose weight, I would eat a lot of those foods during this week leading up to TOM's visit and in large portions. Last night I calculated the points for a bag of peanut butter M&M's, right around 40 points for the bag. Quite often I would eat an entire bag of those in a day or two during this time of the month! WHOA!!! I never wondered why I was overweight, I was always aware of it, but now that I calculate points and see what I was putting into my mouth, I understand it even more and am appalled that I did that to myself! Yuck!!!

It was out of habit that I allowed myself to eat like that every month, TOM was an excuse to get away with it. No longer do I feel that way, though, but I still find myself craving those foods. I'm not giving into those wants, but they are there and they're hard to push away. I know that every time I push the desire away, the closer I will be to another pound lost. Someone once said that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels and I finally believe that!

I'm a Loser!

I walked into my WW meeting tonight knowing that I had lost. I had no idea how much, but I knew it was going to be a good week. I lost 4.6 pounds this week!!! WHOA! I wasn't expecting that, but I'll gladly take it! I'm now down 24.8...sooooo close to 25, but that's okay. My goal was to get down into the next decade on the scale and I did that and then some. Woo-hoo! Photobucket

Seven

Today is four weeks from the last time I took my measurements so it was time to do it again. I was a little nervous, though now I know I had nothing to worry about! I have lost seven inches from head to toe in the last four weeks! Wow! My grand total since the end of April is 12 3/4"! I've been working hard at staying on point and have been doing really well with that, but I'm still surprised by the results. Weight Watchers really does work if you DO it!

NSV!

For those new to the blog, a NSV is a non-scale-victory, meaning something worth celebrating beyond the number on the scale.

I have a NSV today! I'm wearing pants that are two sizes smaller than what I was wearing back in April when I started attending WW meetings!

I can't believe that they fit! I went out to my garage to grab a pair of pants that were one size smaller and found two sets of capri pants two sizes smaller and grabbed them, too, in hopes to wear them on our vacation early August. Well, the pants one size smaller where a little big, so I tried on the capri's and they fit! They are a little bit snug, but not too snug to wear in public and I didn't have to do the crazy jumpy dance to get them on!

Awesome!!! Photobucket

Weigh-in Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is my weigh-in for the week and I'm afraid of what it will be. I've stayed within my points, but I've used more of my weekly 35 points than I ever have before. I ate emotionally a lot this week. But, I've also moved a lot this week. I've been cleaning out my garage and earning some major activity points for that along with cleaning my house to prepare for some family to come into town on Friday. I've been drinking much more water this week, which might show as a gain, but hopefully not. I have no idea what the scale will say tomorrow evening, but I hope it will show a loss! Wish me luck!

stream of consciousness

I feel like just writing and seeing what comes out tonight, so here goes...

I just glanced over at the TV and noticed that we're in a flood warning. The ticker on the bottom of the screen said, "Don't Drown!". I find that funny! I'm sure no one intends to drown in a flash flood. We're uphill and far far away from any bodies of water, so no worries for us. Lots of flooding around us, though, and more rain to come. I could use some serious sunshine!

Speaking of sunshine, I found out recently that I need more of it, and so does my son. Kids need to be on extra vitamin D  nowadays because of the super sunscreen we use. Check with your doctor and make sure that your kids are getting enough vitamin D. We don't need anyone getting rickets!

The Bachelorette is on right now and that Kasey's voice creeps me out. Poor guy can't hold a tune and sounds awful! Ali laughed at him when he sang, she was obviously so uncomfortable. Did you hear the crickets after his song? Why do these guys feel the need to sing to her?! I sing and I don't break out into song to my husband all of the time to show him my love. A kiss and a hug will do, guys! Ali wears a lot of yellow, doesn't she? Okay, now Kasey is acting like a gorilla. Please, Ali, don't give him a rose, he's a creepy guy. Okay, seriously,  now he's singing again! BAH!

I feel like I've been eating a lot lately, but when I count the points I've been just fine. The times are a changin'! I'm glad to have that feeling simply because it means I'm getting used to eating less. I've had weak feelings the last few days, wanting to pig out and eat lots of treats and chips, but I've resisted and have given myself small treats so as not to completely indulge, but satisfy those cravings. Tonight I've been chewing gum and drinking water and I don't have those desires to eat and eat. I need to buy more gum!

I've been searching for a used elliptical for about a week. I have some videos and a Wii Fit+, but I feel like those just aren't getting my heart rate up enough, so I want something more to use on the hot and humid days we've had lately and then in the winter. On nice days, I walk in my neighborhood. So, if you happen to be in the Omaha NE area and know of someone selling their elliptical for cheap, let me know. :o)  I really want one!

The Daily 3

Kaitlin from Everyday Grace has started a new blog to list three daily goals. She has it open to bloggers to participate, all you have to do is comment on her blog or send her an email. What a great idea to list three goals each day! I can't wait to see everyone's goals. Click here to see the daily 3!

New Look!

Blogger has new templates to play with and I just love them! Hope you like the new look, bare with me while I move things around to fit better. :)

I like the new templates so much that I'll likely change the look often. Don't be surprised to see a different look at any given moment! :)

Loser

I'm proud to announce that I'm a loser! Another three pounds gone this week, a total of 18!

Wow! When I started going to WW meetings at the end of April, never did I think that I would be 18 pounds lighter in June. I thought it would take me much longer. So what is different this time around? Attending meetings. I've tried WW before and did it only online, and I had small success, but I never stuck with it. Now I look forward to my weekly meetings and getting the support from my leader and other ladies who are all working on weight-loss, too. I'm finding myself thinking less and less about the number on the scale and more on healthy choices and exercise. Already I'm thinking of those things and I've only gone to seven meetings so far! It makes me so excited to think about where I'll be a year from now. Will I be maintaining by then or at least close to my goal? Will I be walking 5K's every day? Could I possibly participate in a 10K or a half marathon by then? I have so many goals for next summer, so as long as I keep losing I'll be able to do it! I'm so motivated to just keep going with tracking my points, walking and keeping on the program. I can't wait for my next weigh-in next week! I hope to get to 20 pounds lost and earn another star sticker! That's my goal for this week. I have family coming into town next Friday, so to be able to say I've lost 20 pounds would be such a huge reward for me.

Here's to the following week!

Weigh-in Tonight!

I've had a good week! Looking back at my weekly points, I've had some high point days, some low point days, and one day right on point. I have used only 15 of my 35 weekly points and tonight is my weigh-in.

I'm feeling pretty good, too. I had my first compliment on my weight-loss this past weekend and it felt so good! I don't think I look any different, but then again I see myself every day and the person who complimented me hadn't seen me for a few weeks and she noticed. That is a NSV for me!

I'm looking forward to my weigh-in tonight. I've weighed myself at home and show a loss on my scale. Last week I weighed myself at home right before I went to my meeting and my home scale read 1.2 pounds heavier than the scale at the WW meeting, so if that is consistent, I've had a nice loss this week again! I'll do the same thing tonight before I go to see what kind of difference there is between my scale and the WW scale.

I'll check back in tonight!

Questions

Kenz over at All The Weigh posted these questions and answers about herself yesterday and I thought it looked fun, so thought I'd do it, too! My blog is new, I hope to get some more readers soon, so maybe this will help those of you who are lurking a better idea of who I am.

Great Walk!

Here is my current Facebook status: Annie ran 2.22 mi on 6/6/2010 at 5:35 PM with a pace of 18'37"/mi!

I love my Nike+ shoes and sports band!  I just got home from a great walk today. I found that I actually like walking by myself. DS and DH stayed home and I left the dog at home, too. My pace was my best yet and I walked the furthest so far, too. Felt pretty good to look down and see a mile down before I had even turned around to head home. I have one wish that it wasn't uphill all of the way home, but that's just part of the deal for me, no matter which way I go it is uphill on the way home. I'm sure my battle with the hills will get easier with time, though.  :o)

NSV ~ Jeans

Today I'm wearing a pair of jeans that a month ago I could get on, but couldn't get buttoned without having to lay on the bed, suck it all in and still ended up with  a doozy of a muffin top hanging over. Today I put them on, zipped them right up and can breath!! I may not be losing the pounds that I was hoping to but these NSV's are helping me stay motivated!
