2011 Resolutions

"Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average … which means, you have met your New Year's resolution." – Jay Leno

Haha! I love that funny quote from Jay Leno. How true it is. There are so many overweight people in the USA that is now normal to be overweight. How sad for our country! I'm one of those overweight people, but at least I'm doing something about it. Yesterday I was out shopping and a young man, college age, said to a friend, "Look at her huge a$$!" I turned around to see who he was talking about and it was me. I was the only other person in the aisle. Ouch. My a$$ used to be a lot bigger! So I stood tall and said to him, "First of all, that was really rude. Secondly, you should have seen it before I lost 67 pounds! I'm working on it, so give me a break." He turned bright red, apologized and asked me how I was losing weight because he wanted to drop some pounds, too. *insert rolling eyes here* Amazing. So many people make their New Year resolutions to be to get healthier and/or lose weight. So many people break their resolutions, though! Not me. I make them, I keep them and follow through. I'm not average! ;) Here are my New Year Resolutions for 2011:

  • Continue on my weight-loss journey. I would love to reach my goal weight, but I won't resolve to do so. I will resolve to keep plugging away at it!
  • Continue growing in my faith and my relationship with Jesus. I will strive to read my Bible more to learn more about Him and hear His words.
  • Take a picture every day. I think this will be fun!
  • Organize my house! I've written out an organizing schedule on my new 2011 calendar, so as long as I stick with it, our house will be in a much better place a year from now!

Other goals for 2011 are to do a 5K race and a 10K, too, by the end of the year. Those are not things I will resolve to do, but hope to accomplish!

"Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right." ~Oprah

Wow Annie! Good job. It must have really hurt but taking him head on was a great thing to do. And you should have said "eat less, move more"

It always amazes me how people can be so rude! Good for you for standing up to him! I like your New Year Resolutions - but I think you should totally resolve to reach your goal weight - Aim High, girl! You can totally do it! I think one of my resolutions will be to get my house organized too - it is in a constant state of disarray!

Happy New Year, Annie!! =)

Christine, I told him that I was on WW and walked away. He sure was embarrassed that 1. I heard him and 2. I said something to him.

Eve, I do think that I'll reach my goal in 2011, but I won't resolve to, 'cause you just never know how it will go! I don't want to set myself up for failure, though I don't think I would fail at it. You never know if a plateau is coming or if it will slow way down once I get closer to goal. One fellow WWer said she was stuck within the same 5 pounds for a few months! AAAHHH! I would go crazy! So...anyway, that's why I won't resolve to do it, but sure hope I will! :)

What a rude, rude person!

You are doing great! Love your goals for the year and I know you will continue on this healthy path.

Great comeback to a very rude comment! I believe that some people strike out (through words and/or actions) because they're too fearful to do for themselves, so they try to cut others down. Way to stand up! I bet that guy will think about what you said every time he sees someone of size. I bet there'll be fewer comments coming out of his mouth from now on.

Love the resolutions! I have been trying to catch up on some blogs and when I read yours the other day, it inspired me to make some changes, both in attitude (from 'I give up' to 'I can do this' and on my blog. Thank you for your continued blog work and may 2011 be a blessed year for you and yours! :)
